Sunday Classics is a new recital series at Harpa presenting top-quality classical chamber music and songs. The recitals take place almost every Sunday at 5pm in one of Harpa´s recital halls, Kaldalón or Norðurljós, or in the open spaces of Harpa.

The programming of Sunday Classics is very versatile and some of Iceland´s best musicians are among the performers. Among this years highlights was a solo piano recital of world known Maria Joao-Pires. Harpa is also proud to present the series of young and upcoming artists, called „Welcome home“, included in the Sunday Classics program. For anyone looking for top-notch classical music the Sunday Classics will present the best Iceland has to offer.

Music Academy International is the premiere Young Artist Program in Europe today. The Opera Performance Studiois distinguished from other young artist programs by the variety and quality of opportunities it provides its participants. Young Artists are given the opportunity to perform leading roles in main stage productions with orchestra, and to work with world-class directors, and conductors. The focus of the studio is on professional development and ‘training through performance’Former participants have been accepted into Young Artist Programs with the Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Santa Fe Opera, English National Opera, Merola Opera Program, and the opera studios in Berlin, Munich, and Zurich. They have performed with leading opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra National de Paris, Staatsoper Berlin, and the Bayerische Staatsoper.
